Our Campaign

We are taking the challenge to capitalize the benefits of renewable energy to contribute A sustainable economy and greener environment across the Philippines

Solar Power

The Cavite-Naic Solar Techno Park Project is estimated to energize 100,000 households. GAPMEC is gradually mounting renewable energy facility from the expanding inner-city and rural districts to the distant regions of the Philippines.

Biofuel

Biofuels from renewable sources can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by limiting dependency on fossil fuels that aggregates effects of climate change. In than effort to utilize greener alternative energy resources, the Philippines singed in January 2007 the Republic Act 9367 or the Biofuels Act, making the country the first in Southeast Asia to have biofuels legislation in place. Biofuels is a potential source waiting to be explored making up only less than 1 percent of the country’s energy mix as of first half of 2016

Hydro Power

An archipelagic country, the Philippines is surrounded and made up of bodies of waters that are efficient source of hydropower. Hydropower is fueled by water, a domestic and clean fuel source. As of first half 2016, a total of 3,609-megawatt capacity for hydropower was already installed.

Wind Power

The geographical location of the Philippines makes it an excellent source of wind power. Proximity to coastlines and elevation make the country very rich in wind resources that are abundant, naturally replenished and widely distributed. The country is the largest wind power generator in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region with 427-megawatt installed capacity as of first half of 2016.

Geothermal Energy

There is an abundance of renewable energy sources in the Philippines. A power statistics report by the Department of Energy revealed that from January to June 2016, more than 30 percent of the country’s energy mix was from RE sources. Nine percent came from geothermal sources, with a total of 1,917-megawatt installed capacity. This makes the country the second largest producer of geothermal power in the world.
